Company History

The company was founded by Lyman B. Brainard, Jr. in 1979 after more than 20 years in the banking industry. Mr. Brainard passed away in 1993. The business has been remained family owned. In 1986, Jeffrey M. Brainard began with the company. He remains the active member of the family, operating the business on a daily basis. The business was originally located in Canterbury, Connecticut and was moved in 1997 to Colchester, Connecticut. Operating during the savings and loan crisis that brought about appraiser licensing/certification (Title XI) in the early 1990's we were prepared for this regulatory change with the proper education and experience. Over the next 20 years we have continued to survive the number of changes in the housing market, the economy and our industry.
